Ian Innis’s Office

“He calls himself Cyber.” Ian Innis declared this with some finality, pushing back from his desk and crossing his ankles. Innis was a middle-aged, slightly overweight, clean-shaven, dark-haired man with a closet full of long-sleeved shirts, tan slacks, and suit jackets. Seen on the street, he appeared average in almost every respect, an ordinary, benign, phonebook-filler kind of person. He was someone you didn’t look twice at, someone you didn’t think twice about.

But every now and then, if you caught him in a sideways glance, you got the impression he was doing plenty of thinking about you.

Innis’s audience for this pronouncement was his personal assistant, Shawn Matthew Scott, called SMS by those few individuals he thought of as his friends. The blond-haired 25-year-old was leaning silently against the door frame, preferring not to fully enter the disaster zone Innis called his office. Continue reading

What Story Comes Next?

With the comic having wrapped up (hope everyone enjoyed it!), it’s time to start preparing for the next Special People story arc. Originally, my plan was to jump right into the next story after the comic’s run was over, but as has so often been the case over the past year or so, I wasn’t able to put the time into pre-planning, etc., that I had hoped to.

So I’m going to take a break for a couple of weeks so I can get things prepared to start the next story, and during that time I want all of you to help me get my creative ball rolling again!

There are a few different options for what story I could write next, and I want all of you to help me decide which one to go with. Here are the options:

Which story arc should I write next?

  • Continuation of "Who Killed Walter Carton?" Key characters: SMS, Kevin, Esther, etc. (39%, 7 Votes)
  • Continuation/aftermath of "Hide and Seek". Key characters: Sky, Chris Martel. (28%, 5 Votes)
  • A new/parallel story set in Quebec. Key characters: Levi St. Laurent? (28%, 5 Votes)
  • Other? (Please leave a comment if there are different characters, places, or timelines you're curious about.) (6%, 1 Votes)

When “Done” Isn’t “Done” — Book Plans

Hide and Seek is done. Well, very nearly, anyways.

I have a brief epilogue to write, containing one final scene, and then that’ll be that. The story will be finished and I can move on.

Except not quite.

Read my full blog post on TimSevenhuysen.com, where I lay out the options ahead of me for finally getting some Special People stories into book form. I’d appreciate your thoughts and feedback!

“Change” – Now Landing in Your Inbox!

Bombs away! I’ve just finished sending out the Special People comic, which is titled Change, to everyone who backed the IndieGoGo fundraiser last March. This is so exciting!

Coming to the site soon!

Check your inbox, and if you backed the comic but haven’t received your copy, let me know and I’ll make sure you get it.

Hide and Seek will be wrapping up within the next two weeks, and the comic will begin posting to the site after that, at the pace of two pages per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Once the comic has run, there will possibly be a couple of single-chapter stories, and then we’ll dive into our next story arc.

Onwards and upwards!

Delay This Week

I apologize for the lack of a chapter today. I’m swamped with work right now and had to put in some overtime last night instead of writing the next Hide and Seek chapter. I’ll make up for it later this week! I’m targeting Friday right now.

Thanks for understanding. I hate to make everyone wait at this point in the story…

Comic Creeping Ever Closer to Readiness

It’s been a while since I shared an update on the status of the comic project, so here’s some news!

The art for all 8 pages has been completed, and it looks really great, thanks to stellar artist Ash Jackson. I’m currently trying to settle on a design for the cover, and once that’s been drawn, the only step remaining will be to find a letterer to add in all the text. (I’ll also have to put together the Acknowledgements page and package everything together, of course.)

It’s still a bit too early for an estimated release date, but things are really shaping up! Here’s part of a panel to tease you a little…
